Gruden's backstory: FFCA, YouTube and tour his awesome Football Cave
Wife kicked him out of house; Fired Football Coaches Association was born
Chatting from the Man Cave, which he refers to as the FFCA — Fired Football Coaches Association — Jon Gruden said he is having a blast producing the Gruden Loves Football YouTube series and has a lot of ideas for it.
But football’s most exuberant ambassador, albeit involuntarily sidelined, is NOT settling in for a long-term run. He told me so and revealed a lot more in a great video on the history of his popular FFCA man cave. As usual, he lets it all out. Watch and listen.
Now, about the YouTube productions:
“It’s going to be a variety show,” he told me when asked what’s next after a couple of bombastic game breakdowns, one on Ravens-Chiefs and another on Packers-Eagles. “A lot of people are excited about it right now, but we'll see what happens. I'm just preparing to one day coach again. Who knows what will happen? Yeah, it'll happen. “
Yeah, if his hard work and enthusiasm are an indicator, it damn well might.
“You'll see an interview with Doug Williams and George Atkinson and Derek Carr and Irving Fryer, some of the legends, you know, that I like. I like to keep the legendary players alive, you know?
“There will be more analysis, some Gruden Grinders. … games, just a little bit of everything -- high school, college, a lot of just different football stuff. Just for a guy who loves football.”
Listen and learn. …
“There's going to be a little glossary segment where I try to teach the fans a couple things inside the game that are pretty cool. There's going to be something on personnel groupings. … on and on. I’m loving it. “
And so are thousands of fans who have responded in only a few days.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
